Getting Tangled in Party planning

May 22, 2011... My 4 year old daughter is in love with all things Rapunzel. She's even allowing me to brush her hair in hops she'll have long glowing hair like her new idol. After Skylar meeting with her favorite princess in Disneyland.. there was no doubt what this years birthday theme was going to be..

After 3 previous year of toddler birthday planning, one would have thought I would no 3 months reservations are necessary for any child oriented venue.... SSOOOO.. this year's party had to be at home.. That means, more creativity with decorations.. Starting with the invitations.
I found these invitation on line and fell in love cupcake cards .
So then, it's all out the details. Why lie, at 4 years old, my daughter could care less how spot on my decorates reflected the essence of the movie. The details are for me and the parents :)

I was expecting 20+ 4 year old and 8 babies. My house is not big and my backyard has a pull making it off limits as well. For the babies, I created a little nook in my living room called.. " The snuggly duckling"

Since my house would be wall to wall children, I took all my pictures off the fireplace mantle and placed apples for Maximus and the magic flower

My favorite scene from Rapunzel is the beautiful scene with Flynn Rider and Rapunzel sitting in a row boat admiring the display of lanterns lifting from the kingdom
I recreated this scene using yellow paper lanterns ( purchased on line from Oriental Trading Company )

One of the most notable details of the movie Rapunzel is the kingdom's Golden sun logo. Rapunzel subconscienceously paints these suns on the walls of her tower, the lanterns are  stamped with the symbol and the kingdom is draped in purple banners stamped with the emblem.

The hardest party of this craft was finding the sun stamp.. I looked everywhere. I eventually found a foam stamp on Etsy

Once all the little details were complete. All we needed to do is add Rapunzel..  Hired our character from www.firepixie.com  Rapunzel was wonderful, professional, great with the kids, flexible.. I could not have been more pleased. My daughter seemed delighted as well
I wanted to keep with the theme with the thank you notes. Unfortunately, I got lazy. However,  Shutterfly  Made it possible to have custom thank you cards that were quick and easy to make.

I used dotted letter stamps to write out the words "Thank You" then my daughter traced the pattern.  scanned her master piece, uploaded to Shutterfly, and used the design as the cover of the thank you card.

And there you have it.. A Tangled birthday extravaganza.

Fun and sentimental craft.

This craft was inpired by a product in the red envelope catalog. My 3 year old, at the time, and I painted the backgrounds on canvas, the each member of our family took turns making a hand print. the youngest member of our family was 4 month old at the time.

Down the Rabbit Hole...

I friend of mine got married this month. It was a beautiful wedding with an "Alice in Wonderland: theme.. Very fun.. In honor of her obsession with this classic story, I created a wedding gift with a kitchy Wonderland vibe.

The real Princess Bride

My daughter loves princess and loves brides. So on Friday, April 29,2011. I decided to celebrate the real princess bride. Coverage of the royal wedding started at 3am in the west coast. I was excited about the event but not THAT excited. We took advantage of our modern technology and DVRed the event.

The night before, we prepared for our wedding celebration. We made beautiful crowns, so that we match all the wedding guest with their beautiful hats

As the royal chefs were busy preparing a meal fit for a king and 600 guest, I was busy in our kitchen with our culinary delights...PB&J finger sandwiches

Of course, my little princess always has to add her own sence of style. Just like Princess Kate, Skylar has a passion for fashion

Skylar loved the wedding, Queen Mommy was very happy for the DVR. Unfortunately, Prince Sage was not as thrilled with the world event
